Start with a first name or a short word the learner knows. An adult should check its spelling and capitalization before printing. The Alex example only shows how the tool works.
Make a simple print-letter model, tracing rows and writing lines for one name or short word. Adjust the size, check the preview, then download.
English letters A–Z, spaces, straight apostrophes (') and hyphens (-). Up to 32 characters; capital and small letters stay as typed. Names are not sent to us or saved in browser storage.
Each worksheet starts with one dark model. The dotted middle line marks small-letter height; the letters themselves are not dotted.
Free download. No signup, email or analytics consent needed. Extra rows may add pages.
The same letter shapes and line positions are used in the PDF. Print at 100% or Actual size. Check that this print model matches the way you teach the letters.

Demonstrate the first letter and let the learner watch. Use a short, comfortable practice session. Fewer rows and larger letters are an option; the tool does not assign an age or ability level.
Invite the learner to sign their drawing or a card. Writing lines are one preparation aid alongside drawing and everyday writing; completing a tracing page is not a readiness test.
NAEYC: Promoting Preschoolers’ Emergent Writing (Byington and Kim,2017) discusses meaningful daily writing, adult models and varied development. This independent maker is not endorsed by NAEYC, and we have not measured learning effects.
The top line marks the model’s capital height, the dotted middle line its small-letter height, and the darker line is the baseline. Letters such as g, j, p, q and y extend below it toward the bottom line. These guides match this font’s proportions; your school may use a different writing model.
No. Handy Practice Print uses clear print shapes, including single-story a and g. It has no starting dots, arrows or prescribed stroke order. Outline letters show the outside edges, rather than a single pencil path. Follow your teacher’s model if the shapes differ. Cursive and other scripts are not included.
We keep the size you chose rather than shrink it silently. Choose Small or practice a shorter name. Additional rows can span pages; use the page arrows to review every page before printing.
Names are used in this open page to draw the preview and your PDF. They are not uploaded, put into URLs, included in analytics or saved to local or session storage. The downloaded file uses a generic title and filename. Reloading the page resets the draft, so download before leaving. The PDF itself contains the name you typed; keep or share it as you choose.
Handy Practice Print is an English-only outline conversion from the regular Andika 7.000 font, originally created by SIL Global. Its letter shapes are retained. The source is a literacy reading font, not a certified school handwriting curriculum. The conversion has its own name to respect the source’s reserved names and remains under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. Attribution is not endorsement.
