One list.
A stack of flashcards.

Add a word or question, then its answer. Print, cut and practice. Start with the plant example below or replace it with your own lesson.

1. Add your cards

Write a word or question on the front and its answer on the back. Leave the back blank for a write-in card.

Up to 40 unique cards. Front: 60 characters; back: 160. English letters, numbers and common punctuation.

2. Choose how to print

Fold & glue works with any printer: print one-sided, cut each row, fold in the middle and glue the backs together.

Printing double-sided cards?

Choose Double-sided and print the whole PDF at 100% on both sides, flipping on the long edge. Pages alternate fronts then backs. The backs are mirrored so each answer lines up with its word. Test one sheet first: printer alignment varies. Cut after both sides are printed.

No account, email or analytics consent needed. Your card text stays in your browser.

Matching needs 2–20 pairs with distinct, complete answers.

Scramble needs 2–20 single English words; backs can be printed as hints.

Your printable preview

Preparing preview

The PDF uses the same card text, line breaks and page order as this preview. Cut on the outside borders. The dotted middle line is the fold.

Make the cards part of your lesson.

Choose familiar material

Use words from a text, observation or lesson you have already introduced. Write a short, accurate answer that fits the way the word is used. Check your cards before printing a class set.

Try before you turn

Say or write an answer before checking the back. A partner can hold the cards and help you compare your response with the prepared answer.

Mix and revisit

Shuffle the cards between rounds and return to them later. Recognizing a word in a word search and recalling its meaning are different tasks; use each for a clear purpose.

Practice approach informed by Pooja K. Agarwal's flashcard guidance and the English Forward instructor guide. These sources do not endorse this tool or establish its learning effects.

What does the plant example cover?

A starting example for a flowering plant. Check the words with a real plant or picture; these short descriptions are not a full biology lesson. Our four short descriptions were written for this example, informed by RHS plant growth guidance and RHS flower guidance. HD-W-plant-cards-01.

What happens to duplicates, long text and blank backs?

Empty lines are ignored and identical repeated cards are removed. If the same front has different backs, we ask you to resolve it. Fronts can be up to 60 characters and backs up to 160. Long text wraps and becomes smaller, so shorten it for younger readers. A blank back is left for writing your own answer; Words only omits backs without deleting your entries.

Does this support every language?

This version supports English letters, numbers and common punctuation. Accented letters and other scripts are not supported by this PDF font. Unsupported text is reported before download so it is never silently dropped.

Can I return after making a word search?

Yes. When you use the transfer button, this tab keeps your list and flashcard settings while you visit the word search maker. Use your browser's Back button to return. The temporary draft stays in this tab's session storage until you close the tab; it is not sent to our server or analytics.
