A festive sheet that fits the occasion

For a family table

Use the easy sheet for readers who prefer short words. Let pairs share a pencil or offer both versions without assigning a winner. Keep the word list visible: there is no need to guess which words were hidden.

For a classroom

Check that this Christmas theme fits your group. Review words like wreath, sleigh and ornament before the search. For a winter lesson without a Christmas theme, edit the list to SNOW, FROST, ICE, MITTEN, SCARF and WINTER, then generate a new puzzle.

For vocabulary practice

Ask learners to explain one word to a partner, sort objects and activities, or write a short sentence. In the medium puzzle, CHRISTMAS TREE has thirteen letters once its space is removed, which is why it uses a 15 × 15 grid.

Paper size and answer keys

Choose the PDF made for your paper: US Letter or A4. Each download has two pages. Give out the first page and keep the second for checking. If you edit the words, the maker creates a different puzzle and a new matching answer key; the original downloaded key will not match it.

Can I print enough for a class or party?

Yes. These sheets are free to print and share for classroom, event and personal use. The fixed printable gives everyone the same puzzle. Use the maker to create a different layout, rather than mixing an answer key from another version.
